eggs have not hatched and day 21?
iv had s buff sussex siting on 6 eggs for 21 days now and theres not a sound coming from any of the eggs and i cant see any pipping. I put the eggs under her 3 weeks ago but i didn't put them under her till 2 pm that day would this have an affect on the hatch. She's been coming off the eggs 3-4 times a day the last two days then going back on them. Any answers would help thanks luke ..
Answer:
Day 21 is a bit late for candling,just wait another day or two,after that i don't hold much hope for a hatch,This extra day should cover any shortcomings like a given time etc.Hens do get a bit restless when the eggs are near hatching,in that they make a clucking sound as if calling to chicks,have never seen them leave the nest though.If you are sure you have set fertile eggs then you have every reason to be patient & wait the extra day or so.Wishing you luck.
