Sussex Eggs
Chicken Can Indeed Swim
I am a farmer in a small village outside Sussex. I was sitting in my porch last weekend and thinking if chicken could swim. I have never seen a chicken swim and I wanted to see if they can swim like ducks. I got two swimming pools in my farm one for my ducks and one for the family. Well to be honest it's more like a pond than a swimming pool. I just wanted to see other than laying eggs and running can they be good at anything else?
So I took one of them and threw it into the pond just like the lady in the video. And they do indeed can swim but as you can see they want to get away from the water as soon as they can. By the way make sure you clean your pool with swimming pool chemicals and swimming pool filters after the chicken is thrown for personal use of course. I don't think you would want to swim in a dirty pool?
I know this is a crazy post but did you know chickens could swim? Yes there is 1 out of 10 who would have known about this but for others this is definitely a new thing. I also asked my friend, if he knew chickens could swim. He said he did try it once but his chicken started to drown. Don't worry the chicken survived. But that was a bad experience because she wasn't ready to be honest.
I am not trying to say is you should do this to your chicken and find out. This post is just to give you an information on if chickens can swim or not. Use the chicken for what they are best at. This is just an informational article.

Frequently Asked Questions...
When will they lay their first egg?
I bought three Light Sussex hens three weeks ago and they said they were point of lay. I am guessing they were quite young as their red bits on their heads were not that red, anyway they have reddened up nicely now, any ideas when I could expect the first egg please?
Answer:
light sussex's are lovely birds and very good layers once they start my guess is they are probably a bit younger then The dealer said also Make sure they have a proper diet (griit Layers pellets etc) Also just incase if they are wandering around loose in a garden they could be laying their eggs as well (In another place) trying to hide them for you lol But if they are in an enclosed run that possibility is kind of eliminated lol But anyway As they are also new to your home give them about a week or two more and you should ve getting plenty of fresh eggs everyday!!
