Question about tattoo(s) honoring my mom?
My mom passed away on November 22, and I want to get a tattoo to honor her. She loved ladybugs, and she had a simple ladybug tattoo on her foot. I thought it would be cool to get the same tattoo that she had. So my question is should I just get the one simple ladybug tattoo, or should I get a new tattoo on the anniversary of her death? I thought about getting ladybug tattoos that travel along my foot and spiral around my ankle, and possibly leg. Good idea? Or should I just stick with the one?
Also, I plan on getting a tattoo to honor my dad as well. I know exactly what I want for this one since I have had five years to think about it. It will be the lyrics "Fly High, Free Bird" and some kind of abstract bird since Free Bird was his favorite song. Where should I get it? It can't be too visible since I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner.. Any ideas are helpful.
Thanks =)
Answer:
I think it's amazing what you're doing to honor them.
I think you should just stick to one ladybug, and if you want to honor the anniversary of her death, you can maybe get the artist to put two spots on each of the ladybug's wings, so it'll read 22. (or maybe 22 spots? but that's a little too much)
As for your dad's tatt, I love the words and I would suggest getting a swallow to go with it. Swallows are one of the birds most associated with freedom and they look amazing. I did my tattoo representing my freedom at the age of 21 with eight swallows (8 is my lucky number). It'll fit the lyrics perfectly. Also, have the bird flying outwards because that's what represents 'freedom'.
You can see what I did for mine : http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_O7fmbvnnlXU/TP0d171EpvI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/5L8DOn0qlmI/s640/DSC_0486.JPG
You should get it maybe on your back where your nurse uniform can definitely cover it.
All in all, a lovely idea for both tatts. I love it.
