WHY IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO LOSE WEIGHT

Centuries ago, the need to lose weight was virtually unheard of. People worked hard and ate well. Each day they arose early and spent the day working hard. Physical labor made up the majority of their work.

 

People worked on fields digging, sowing, harvesting. They worked on ranches and farms, rode horses, tilled the soil. Because they burned off so many colors in a normal day, the idea of "watching what they ate" never even occurred to them.

 

But that was ages ago. Today's world is very, very different from that world of old. Lifestyles are very different -- more comfortable, requiring less physical effort. But every rose has its thorn. As a result of all these comforts and amenities the state of physical well being has really changed.

 

Most of us have sedentary jobs that demand little or no exercise at all. To put it simply, things have become so darn easy. And just as can be expected, weight gain has become a major concern for almost every city dweller.

 

During the period of thoughtless youth, it is not such a major concern. Young people burn off huge amounts of calories, so weight problems do not bother them so much. But you begin to show signs of weight gain starting at around age 20. And it's in all the wrong places.

 

It’s not about the hour glass figure or the perfectly sculpted and toned body. The important thing is a long, disease-free life that results from keeping fit and healthy. Everybody knows that illness often is caused by that excess weight. Everyone wants to live a healthier life, and often that requires losing weight.

 

 

Meanwhile, "evil forces" scheme to keep you unhealthy. A television ad or radio advertising -- a radio commercial or a series of radio commercials -- pushing the kinds of foods we really don't want to eat in this sedentary culture.

 

Weight loss does not happen by itself. It comes about as a result of only two things...

 

The first is by watching what you eat and the second is by seeing to it that your body gets the exercise that it needs. I'll share valuable tips for both in future articles.
